The question has been asked "Of what church are you a member?"

WHAT CHURCH?

Acts 20:28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

I am a member of the church of God which Jesus purchased with His own blood.

Romans 16:16 .....all the churches of Christ greet you.

I am a member of the church of Christ.

Galatians 1:22 I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Judea which are in Christ.

I am a member of the church that is in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 2:14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea......

The Lord adds the saved to His church. (Acts 2:47 ... and the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Jesus gave the instruction on how to be saved and added to His church. (Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved....

Can sexual immorality be excused by blaming it on your DNA? Are adulterers, sexual child predators, fornicators, and homosexuals, innocent of their sins due to a genetic malfunction?

1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

Sin is lawlessness. Sin is not a result of a hereditary genetic defect.

James 1:14-15 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.  15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

God does not give out death sentences for inherited DNA. Sin is an individual choice, not a biological mistake.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

The apostle Paul instructs the Christians at Corinth to flee immorality. You cannot flee immorality if it is inherited through your DNA. Sexual sin is a process of selection; not an inherited certainty.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; Neither fornicators......nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals......will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified  in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

If sexual immorality was in  your DNA there would be nothing you could do to change it. The apostle Paul stated that some of the Christians in Corinth were guilty of sexual immorality, however, he spoke of it in the past tense.

DNA determines your physical characteristics. Sexual immorality is a spiritual condition and therefore, a matter of personal choice.

GRACE IS NOT A MANDATE

Grace is an unmerited favor from God. Grace is not a mandate from God forcing men to have faith, so that they may receive salvation. God does not impute, a saving faith, to a few selected individuals. Faith is by choice.


Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;


A. Because of God's grace all men are afforded the opportunity to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, that is being saved through faith.
B. Ephesians 2:8 does not state or imply the that men are saved by grace alone.
C. The gift mentioned is, salvation. The gift is not, imputed faith,  from God to those who have been preselected, by God, for salvation.


Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men....


Does this mean the grace of God promises universal salvation? Of course not, it means all men have the opportunity for salvation through Jesus Christ. YES, all men.


Titus 3:4-7 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.


A. God saved us according to His mercy. How? By the washing of regeneration (water baptism) and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38, John 3:5.
B. Men are afforded grace only through faith in Jesus Christ.
C. We are justified by God's grace. Without God's unmerited favor of forgiveness through Jesus Christ no man can be saved.


GRACE IS NOT EARNED. GRACE IS NOT MANDATED FOR A SELECT FEW. FAITH IS NOT IMPUTED TO MEN, AS A PRODUCT OF GRACE.


ALL MEN WHO HEAR THE GOSPEL PREACHED HAVE A CHOICE TO ACCEPT GOD'S GRACE BY FAITH THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.


The terms for pardon because of God's grace are:
1. FAITH: John 3:16
2. REPENTANCE: Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19
3. CONFESSION: Romans 10:9-10, Acts 8:37
4. WATER BAPTISM:1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16
